Trout Bonus Limit at the Rock Island PondsWashington Department of Fish and Wildlife — 9/29/2006Species affected: Trout Location: Rock Island; includes Pitt, Putters, Hammond and Big Bow Lakes Effective dates: October 1 until December 31, 2006 or until further notice. Reason for action: To provide the public the opportunity to harvest an unexpected surplus of hatchery-reared cutthroat trout. These fish must be stocked this fall due to water and space limitations at the hatchery. Other Information: Overwinter survival and fish quality will suffer if the trout are allowed to remain in the ponds until next spring. The expanded limit will allow anglers to utilize these fish white they are still in good condition. Information contact: Art Viola (509) 665-3337 or the Wenatchee office (509) 662-0452. Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license. Check the current WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet or the Fishing section of the WDFW webpage at wdfw.wa.gov for details on fishing seasons and regulations.
