HOT SPRINGS -– The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is looking for input from the state's anglers on how it should manage Lake Ouachita. The agency will be hold two meetings later this month to gather that information.
The first meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 21 at Mt. Ida High School. That meeting will be followed on Tuesday, Aug. 22 with a meeting at Fountain Lake High School. Both meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m.
AGFC assistant chief of fisheries Mark Oliver said that angler's ideas will help develop the plan. "Here's their opportunity to participate in the development of a fisheries management plan for Lake Ouachita. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host the two facilitated workshops as part of a process designed to identify issues of concern with the sport fisheries (bass, stripers, walleye, crappie, bream, catfish and others) in the lake," Oliver said.
Fishermen can bring up their issues and ideas for improving these fisheries at the meetings or send their written comments to: AGFC Fisheries Division, Lake Ouachita Management Plan, 2 Natural Resources Dr., Little Rock, AR 72205.
