B.A.S.S. VS PAA and FLW? Who Will Win?

By Steven Vonbrandt
8/26/2005

Everyone that follows competitive bass fishing knows what this means right now to the sport. There is a lot of controversy and bad feelings floating about among the ranks. Will B.A.S.S. and ESPN be able to work these problems through or is there more to come?

(PRWEB) August 25, 2005 -- Ever since B.A.S.S. and ESPN announced the schedule and rule changes for the 2006 tour, there have been a lot of questions, opinions, and bad feelings, and not just towards B.A.S.S. or the Advisory Council, but the PAA, and the FLW tour as well. They are all in this mixed up soup together and the future of professional bass fishing is being decided as we speak.

Professional bass fishing is the second fastest growing sport in the U.S. next to NASCAR, and may soon surpass it as the number one sport, provided all the major players and anglers can get together and decide on a regular schedule and rules that are fair to everyone.

Many of today's top professional anglers aren't happy with the changes but are reluctant to speak out and express their true feelings as the tour is hard enough with the help they get from the sponsors, regardless of the amount, and nearly impossible without it!

It will cost the average touring pro over $50,000 to fish the B.A.S.S. schedule this year, and that's a conservative amount. The amount the anglers fishing the "Open" tournaments have to spend could end up pushing them out of the sport entirely.

This week on Anglers Radio, hosted by Steve vonBrandt on his show "Beyond Bass Basics", two of the members of Triton/Mercury, Gary Garren and Brent "Brody" Broderick, who are both fishing the B.A.S.S. Open tournaments, are going to talk with Steve about these topics in depth, and try to sort through some of the rumors and truths of the Open tournament trail for 2006.

In addition, Don Iovino will be on after them, talking about his newest article that is appearing in "Inside Line" magazine on bass fishing in Mexico. Don recently caught a ten pound bass or better every single day for 49 days straight in Mexico by using his electronics to their fullest capacity.

Don is the "Godfather Of Finesse Fishing," and is not afraid to speak his mind on any topic at all.

Anglers Radio will be talking to Don and getting his viewpoint on all the commotion these days among B.A.S.S., the PAA, and the FLW tour. You don't want to miss this show as it will be interesting to say the least.

You can listen to Steve talk to all of today’s top professional anglers and lure manufacturers each week on Anglers Radio sponsored by Delaware Tackle at www.delawaretackle.com.

Anglers Radio can be heard on the Internet as well on www.anglersradio.com day or night, as all the shows are archived for your convenience.
